Contact association
See which deals rest on a single person.
Deals with more of the buying group engaged close far more often, yet the people your team emails and meets rarely make it onto the deal itself. Until they do, nobody can see which deals are single-threaded — and HubSpot attributes a won deal backwards through each associated contact's journey, so an unassociated contact contributes nothing to reporting either.
As deals, contacts and activity change in HubSpot, Terrain finds the people at that company who emailed, met, called or filled in a form inside your window, and puts them on the deal — labelled with why they belong there. Your reports can then filter on those labels to show which deals rest on one person, how much of the buying group your team has reached, and which contacts to credit when a deal is won. You can also run it by hand at any time, and back-test it against deals you have already won before it writes anything.
What it touches in your CRM
Exactly what the app reads and writes. Nothing else.
- Deals (open, or won for back-tests) and their companies
- Contacts at those companies
- Emails, meetings, calls and form submissions on those contacts
- Contact → deal associations, labelled Engaged, Worked or Converted so your own reports can filter and break down by them (plus your label if you use one)
- The evidence itself — the emails, meetings, calls and messages that justified each person — associated to the deal, so its timeline shows the conversation; only what the deal did not already carry, removed again on undo
- One note per touched deal naming who was added and the evidence — removed again on undo
Why write access is safe here
- Every association carries the engagements that justify it, and the labels that say why, so the numbers are reportable in HubSpot rather than only here.
- Every run can be undone in one click: exactly what it wrote, nothing else.
- A preview runs first and writes nothing. Your own staff are never associated as customer contacts. You choose whether people who never answered are written at all.
- Unlink someone from a deal in HubSpot and Terrain never puts them back. Your team's decisions outrank the rule.
How Terrain apps are set up
Terrain apps are set up with a consultant, not bought from a marketplace: a short call, then a preview on your own data before anything is written.
- Once live, this app is also available from Claude, Cursor and Codex over MCP, with the same permissions as your account.
- It uses the HubSpot connection your organization makes once — no new credentials.
